Anchor Text is a text (word or sentence) which is visible on your web page, using Hyperlink at the Backend of that specific text. It can lead towards another web page of your website or to some other website.

For example; if you are on our website and reading this article and we mention something about SITEMAPS , you would probably click SITEMAPS and that will lead towards its own page. In Anchor Text language, SITEMAPS is called Anchor Text in our website. If we had used click here instead of sitemaps, it is same as anchor text but not the proper one and has no meaning for the search engine's spiders/bots.

Anchor Text optimization  is quite valuable tool for your website, if it's used properly. Some Webmasters, once they are writing content for the website, use CLICK HERE or something which is not a proper keyword or sentence. And those improper texts have no value in search engines. Make sure once you are writing content, use proper meaningful words and sentences rather than click here, go, here and etc...
